Product detailed description

Collector's replica of a Sakabato tanto dagger with a reverse edge

Forged replica of a tanto dagger with a blade made of AISI 1045 carbon steel reaches a hardness of 48 HRC. This model is primarily intended for use as a decoration or for active martial arts practice (kata). Due to the lower hardness of the steel and the polished (not partially hardened) hamon, it is not intended for cutting hard materials. The Tanto features a minimalist Shira Saya design made of lacquered wood with elements of durable G10 material.

The Sakabato is a unique type of blade made famous in Japanese pop culture (e.g. Rurouni Kenshin). The cutting edge is located on the opposite side compared to traditional swords, symbolizing peace and the protection of life. Handle with care due to the reversed blade geometry, be careful.

Tanto (短刀) was historically part of the samurai's (set daishō) armor. It was designed for close contact and, thanks to the high blade profile, excels at penetrating material. This replica in sakabata (reversed blade) design is an interesting collector's item for any lover of Japanese traditions.
