Japanese carpentry axe Warikomi, charred white oak, 330 mm
Code: KNTN-010-133

Product detailed description
Traditional Japanese Warikomi Tessen Axe
This tool is designed specifically for precision carpentry, fine wood working, and splitting smaller pieces. Thanks to its balance, it is an ideal choice for outdoor activities, camping, and professional carpentry projects.
The tool head is made using the demanding Warikomi method, where a hard cutting core of 1045 carbon steel is forged into a softer steel body. This "sandwich" construction ensures high stability and long durability. Each piece bears the mark of the traditional production certificate, established by the Japanese government to protect local crafts. The head is decorated with traditional grooves – seven stripes represent sacred mountains and, according to legend, bring the craftsman good luck.
The handle made of charred white oak from northern Japan excels in its toughness. The scorching surface treatment increases the handle's durability and makes cleaning easier.
The tools are handcrafted by Mizuno Seisakujo in Sanjo City, Japan. Master blacksmith Mizuno and his sons forge each axe with traditional techniques and utmost care. The carbon steel used allows for easy maintenance and long-term preservation of its functional properties.

Care and Maintenance:
After each use, hand wash the tool head, dry it, and treat it with vegetable oil (e.g., camellia oil).
Carbon steel offers exceptional performance but requires a dry environment to prevent natural oxidation.
Protect the tool from strong impacts on very hard surfaces.
Sharpening and cleaning:
For maintenance, we recommend water sharpening stones. We also offer sharpening services and professional sharpening courses. A mixture of baking soda and a cork can be used to remove minor stains.

- Traditional carbon steels: Kanetsune expertly works with steels such as Blue Steel (Aogami) and White Steel (Shirogami), known for their extreme sharpness and ease of sharpening.
- Damascus layering technique: Many models feature multi-layer construction, enhancing blade durability while creating stunning visual patterns.
- Natural handle materials: Traditional woods such as magnolia or oak, as well as ray skin-wrapped handles, provide an authentic feel and excellent ergonomics.
From kitchen precision to demanding outdoor use
The Kanetsune Seki portfolio bridges two worlds. On one side, it offers high-end kitchen knives that deliver exceptional precision in food preparation. On the other, their outdoor and hunting knives are inspired by traditional Japanese tools designed for survival in the wild. These knives are built to withstand demanding conditions while maintaining outstanding aesthetic value.
