Product detailed description

Katana Shikai for tameshigiri practice, folded steel AISI 1075

The Shikai sword is a top-tier tool for advanced students of Japanese sword arts and discerning collectors. The blade is hand-forged from folded AISI 1075 steel, which, thanks to thousands of layers, acquires a unique texture. The traditional differential hardening method has created a real and clearly visible Choji-type hamon (clover pattern) on the edge, which seamlessly transitions through the boshi to the sword's tip. With a hardness of 52 HRC and a full Fulltang construction, this model is ideal for the discipline of tameshigiri – cutting tatami mats or bamboo.
