Product detailed description
Functional replica of a Shinken Shapu katana sword, AISI 1095 steel, Nagasa 2.3 Shaku
The forged blade of shinogi-zukuri type is crafted from premium AISI 1095 carbon steel. The steel in a Maru monocomposite configuration has undergone a traditional differential hardening process, thanks to which it holds its edge excellently. The blade with a Bo-Hi groove has been hand-polished with hazuya stone to achieve a mirror finish and a precise edge. The Sori (curvature) geometry is designed for the finest and cleanest cuts. The blade exhibits high hardness of approx. 58 HRC, allowing for effective practice of tameshigiri on straw mats or bamboo. The Full Tang construction ensures maximum stability and strength of the entire sword.

The tip of the blade, Chu-Kissaki, with a distinct Diamond-Shaped Yokote, is complemented by a real Choji Hamon, created by traditional master blacksmithing methods. The presence of the Bo-Hi groove allows for an audible effect (tachi kaze - sword wind) during a technically correct swing, which is crucial for verifying the correct movement technique.
