Handcrafted katana sword replica Shinken Shapu made of AISI 1095 steel, Nagasa 2.30 Shaku

The forged blade of shinogi-zukuri type is crafted from premium AISI 1095 carbon steel. This steel in a Maru monocomposite configuration has undergone the process of traditional differential hardening. The blade with a Bo-Hi groove has been hand-polished with hazuya stone, achieving a mirror finish and a precise edge. The Sori (curvature) geometry is designed for precision in performing traditional techniques. The blade exhibits high hardness of approx. 58 HRC at the hasaki, making it an ideal tool for practicing tameshigiri on straw mats. The Full Tang construction ensures maximum stability of the entire unit.

The blade tip Chu Kissaki with a distinct Diamond-Shaped Yokote is complemented by a real Choji Hamon, created using traditional forging methods. The presence of the Bo-Hi groove allows for a characteristic sound effect (tachi kaze) during a proper swing, which is crucial for verifying correct movement technique.
