Then it is hand-sanded, straightened over a fire, and worked – each knot and grain is carefully aligned to preserve its natural beauty and durability. Thanks to the retained bark, the stick is flexible, strong, and lasts longer than smoothed "stripped" ones. Finally, the rattan is fumigated in a transport container – protection against pests.
