Product detailed description
Artisan tanto sword replica Shobu Shirasaya, Tamahagane steel, Nagasa 0.94 Shaku
A forged sharp tanto sword replica Shobu Shirasaya is designed for the most demanding collectors or for precise practice of traditional tameshigiri. The blade is made of unique Tamahagane carbon steel, produced by the traditional Japanese method in tatara furnaces. It achieves a high hardness of 59 HRC. The hamon Notare tempering line gently undulates along the entire length of the blade and is the result of differential hardening. The shobu-zukuri tip shape flows smoothly into the edge, a design typical for medieval Japanese combat daggers, complemented by the functional Bo-Hi fuller.
The shirasaya design utilizes magnolia wood, which is ideal for long-term blade preservation due to its neutrality. The presence of the mekugi pin allows for safe tameshigiri (cutting tests) on tatami mats.
