Product detailed description

Japanese Sword Shadow Wings, Real Straight Temper Pattern

nagasa 2.31 Shaku, medium chu kissaki tip, Yokote

Wings of Shadow. A sword that moves in silence and leaves a trail of light.

Katana Kage no Tsubasa – Wings of Shadow is a traditional uchigatana, a symbol of samurai honour, discipline, and hidden strength. This type of sword, worn with the blade facing upwards, was designed for smooth drawing and precise cuts, combining speed, elegance, and absolute control over movement.

The blade was hand-forged from genuine Japanese Tamahagane steel, smelted in a tatara furnace according to an ancient process. The master smiths repeatedly forged and quenched it into the shinogi-zukuri (鎬造り) shape – a classic profile with a distinct shinogi ridge, offering an ideal balance between strength and functional perfection. The gentle curve of the sori ensures a smooth cut, while the chū-kissaki tip adds aesthetic nobility.

The blade subtly reflects a straight suguha hamon, a symbol of peace and purity of spirit. This harmonious hardening line perfectly complements the balanced shinogi-zukuri shape, underscoring the sword's character – a discreet yet uncompromising work of art.

The lacquered saya (scabbard) in a deep brown-black shade was created using the traditional urushi technique with a fine structure of embedded pine needles. The metal fittings are hand-engraved and blackened. The tsuka (handle) is wrapped in the traditional hineri-maki style – a crossed silk ito wrap over genuine ray skin samegawa, featuring golden menuki in the shape of a dragon. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira feature a delicate floral motif, creating a harmony of light and shadow.

The blade tip features a genuine Diamond-Shaped Yokote, clearly defined by the hamon that runs along the entire length over the Boshi. The distinct, real Suguha Hamon is crafted according to ancient traditional methods by a master smith.
