Subsequently, it was partially hardened to achieve its maximum hardness and elasticity. This Chinese GUNTO sword is an almost exact replica of the katana used by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. Prior to World War II, all swords carried by the Imperial Japanese Army were equipped with two carrying rings. On the advice and recommendation of a renowned Japanese swordsman, swords were fitted with only one ring. This allowed the sword to be carried much more easily and efficiently.
