This exceptional steel has a long lasting sharpness at R61 +/- 1 Rockwell hardness. The core of Japanese vg10 steel is sandwiched between 120 layers of 4 overlaid steels (Caucasus Damascus Steel) a combination of AEB-L, 440C, SS304 and nickel steels that provide exceptional durability and toughness. The Damascene WATERDROP pattern on this steel is from the Chad Nichols workshop in the USA.
