Knife Spirit of Munro - Star Dust - limited edition

This limited series was made possible by the great film Captive at Speed with Anthony Hopkins.

This extraordinary knife was created as a tribute to the man who arguably made it most famous indian motorcycles and spent his entire life refining and perfecting it. The New Zealander Burt Munro in 1967, at the age of 76, with a bad heart and on a 45-year-old motorcycle, he set a world record of 184 mph, or about 300 km/h, on the Bonneville salt flats - hence the 300-piece series. This record has not been broken to this day.

The blade is made of overlaid damascus steel, 110 layers of 9Cr18MoV steel, whose pattern resembles stardust - hence the name of the knife - Star Dust. The opening is provided by a pop-up "Flipper", which is on a ceramic bearing supplemented by titanium washers. The knife is therefore easy to operate with one hand.

The handle is made of special redwood and decorated with the legendary number 35.

The case is made of high quality cowhide leather.

You can decorate your biker jacket or vest with a metal pin (badge) with the knife number or an applique that you can either sew or iron on.

The gift box is made of Rosewood.

How to take care of the knife and what not to do with it ...

Never wash the knife in the dishwasher. To maintain sharpness, hand wash and dry the knife immediately.

Do not use the knife as a crowbar and avoid bending it.

Protect the knife from falling or bumping.

Particles attached to the blade surface from aggressive substances can begin to corrode and form rust-like scratches on the surface of the blade. However, it's not the blade that rusts, it's the attached particles. For example, baking soda is commonly used for removal, which when soaked forms a "slurry" and an old cork.

Sharpening a hunting knife: for the blade of the VG-10 Japanese steel knife we recommend using diamond and water sharpening stones. If you are not 100% sure of your skills and dexterity, please contact us. We will sharpen your knives individually according to your wishes. We also regularly organize knife sharpening courses. Alternatively, look for a professional sharpener in your area. Damage that could occur from unprofessional sharpening is irreversible.
