The laminated steel axe head consists of 3 layers of steel (Warikomi). The centre (core) of the head is made of made of Japanese steel SHIROGAMI 2 with a carbon content of 0.45%. The steel around it is much softer. The result is a very hard core encased in softer steel for better shock absorption. The axe head is decorated with Japanese characters. The design refers to the Kumadori of Kabuki, a very traditional type of Japanese dance. The letter under the brand is an ancient Japanese brand called "Mizuno".
The handle is straight and made of Japanese white oak,. Please note: this wooden handle has been given a final tanning treatment to ensure it is impregnated and resistant to soiling.
