Product detailed description

wakizashi AKAEI carbon steel AISI 1095 with real hamon

The blade of the Japanese Wakizashi sword is forged by hand using a traditional method from AISI 1095 Hi-carbon steel (0.95% carbon and 0.4% manganese content), which is differentially hardened. The blade is of shinogi zukuri type and real hamon of Choji type. The blade is polished with hazuya stone in the final stage of production. It is a fully disassembled Wakizashi sword with full-tang construction and a grooved (Bo-hi) blade. The groove reduces the weight of the blade and makes it easier to handle, in addition, when practicing martial arts, sound effects occur when the sword moves, allowing you to observe the accuracy of the techniques performed. The Wakizashi sword can be unfolded and comes in a black canvas bag - excellent value for money. This Japanese sword wakizashi can be combined into a set DAIŠO s aKAEI katana.

The real Choji hamon is created according to ancient traditional methods based on many years of experience of master blacksmiths. This process produces the beautiful hamon of Snake and Martensite (grain).

Tsuka: (handle) wooden core wrapped with real stingray (Samegawa) skin with black braid - Ito. The blade of the wakizashi is secured by two mekugi (bamboo pins). You can remove the blade from the handle by pulling out these pins. On each side of the Tsuka (handle) there is a menuki (gold ornament under the braid).Distinctive finishing of the handle (Kashira).

Tsuba: (guard) with oriental motif, distinctive handle ending (Kashira).

Saya: (shell - cover) made of hardwood, covered with stingray skin which is then sanded and left in a matt finish. A high quality silk Sage-O braid is tied around the Kurigata (button) of the Sayi (cloak-cover).

samurai sword warranty - examples of misuse

In general, these are all activities except for traditional chopping test techniques, which involve chopping into special mats.

  • Cutting branches, trees and bushes:
for this activity people have developed other tools such as axes or machetes.
  • Chopping, or swordplay with another sword:
destructive damage to the blade of a samurai sword - samurai avoided any direct contact with the enemy to avoid damaging the blade. The repair was long and expensive.
  • Never wear a sharp samurai sword with the blade exposed in public:
Always keep your sword in the Saye (scabbard). In Germany and other EU countries, this is even an obligation prescribed by gun law.
  • Never insert a dirty blade into the Sayi:
If you are performing chopping tests on fruit, clean and preserve the blade immediately after chopping, otherwise the blade will rust and oxidize.
  • Never leave your sword in a damp place such as a porch, shed, cellar or conservatory:
This is certainly not the treatment this traditional weapon deserves. Always clean the blade after use, brush with oil and store the sword in a dry place.
