Product detailed description

Wakizashi FLOWERS carbon steel blade AISI 1045

.

Forged Japanese short sword WAKIZASHI with polished imitation hardening (hamon) and Bo-Hi groove. Sharp (cut) samurai sword WAKIZASHI will find its use as a decoration, but also for active martial arts training. The sword is not quite suitable for cutting harder matrerial. The steel is not partially hardened (hamon is only polished) and therefore has a low degree of hardness. Chopping hard materials would leave marks on the blade of the sword. The attractive and sharp blade, the black glossy decorated saya plus the tsuka (hilt) which is covered with genuine stingray skin, all make this sword wakizashi interesting. The stand is not included with this wakizashi. Wakizashi is stored in a black canvas bag. This Japanese wakizashi short sword can be combined into a set with katana Flowers (K-171) a tanto Flowers (T-652). The blade of the wakizashi is decorated with a polished imitation of a hamon tempering line. Dellinger disclaims any liability for injury or damage resulting from use. Keep the wakizashi sword out of the reach of children ! Any handling of the samurai sword is your own responsibility. Remember, you are wielding a deadly weapon!

.

Wakizashi is a Japanese samurai short sword with the same appearance as the katana. The Wakizashi was worn in a pair of daisho, as a backup weapon. A wakizashi blade is made using the same process as a katana. Most often broken blades of long swords (katanas) were used for production. The Wakizashi was considered a guardian of honor and was almost never put away by the samurai. Even in his own home, the samurai kept his wakizashi handy in case of a sudden attack. He wore it tucked behind his kaku-obi belt, blade up, so that he could respond to a sudden enemy attack directly from the sheath. In the case of ritual suicide (seppuku) , the samurai used his wakizashi, or more often a dagger was used tanto.

.

Kforged blade made of steel AISI 1045 of the highest quality. The blade is in Maru configuration, i.e. forged from one compact bar of steel. AISI 1045carbon steel is a very popular steel used in the manufacture of katana, sword and knife blades. The production of this blade goes through several polishing and sharpening processes the surface of the blade shows a high gloss.

.

Gutter Bo-Hi brings lightness to the katana and is responsible for the impressive sound even with a light swing of the katana or wakizashi. This sound is called "Tachi-Kaze" (the sound of the wind of the sword) in Japanese. How loud you hear the sound will depend on the speed and proper technique of the cut. Swords with the Bo-Hi groove are often used by martial arts students because they know immediately which of their slashes were good and which need to be improved. This groove is often called the "blood groove", although its purpose has nothing to do with blood. Combined with proper groove tapering, the blade can be 20 to 30% lighter than a blade without a groove without significant loss of strength and stability. The groove usually tapers together with the tapering blade. The production of a Bo-Hi groove blade is a bit easier than a classic full blade. A sword without a groove has higher strength and resistance to damage. The finest swords are usually without this groove.

Swords of the highest quality are usually without a groove

The groove on the blade brings with it lightness, an attractive sound even at a weak swing and, moreover, the production of a blade with a groove is less demanding and so the sword can have a more attractive price. On the other hand, a sword without a groove is overall stronger, more durable, and for some, even nicer. Swords of the highest quality are usually without a groove.
